Checkups and Cleanings

Checkups and Cleanings

Most healthy patients are able to go six months between their preventive dental cleanings and exams. Waiting much longer can allow mineralized buildup to deposit deep under the gum tissues and cause long-term dental problems. Regular professional cleanings at Cherokee Smiles as part of our family dentistry treatments will:

  • Keep your teeth healthier
  • Reduce your risk of gum disease
  • Help you freshen your breath

All of our cleanings are performed by one of our Registered Dental Hygienists. During this visit, you will also receive a screening for gum disease, oral cancer, and tooth decay. Finish your cleaning up with a light polishing to remove superficial stains and leave your teeth feeling spotless.

Comprehensive Dental Exams

Thorough exams and disease screening keeps your smile as healthy as possible. Our goal is to identify problems in their very earliest stages. Not only does this keep dental treatments more affordable, but it also helps preserve your natural tooth structure for as long as possible. An exam is conducted at every preventive care appointment to monitor changes that may have occurred in your smile.

We utilize advanced screening tools like laser cavity detection and oral cancer screenings to pinpoint problems before they can spread. This technology identifies potential dental issues long before it is visible on a visual inspection or on an X-Ray.

Deep Cleanings

The active periodontal disease causes the gum tissues to detach from your teeth, resulting in bone loss and tooth mobility.

Symptoms of gum disease include:

  • Bleeding gums
  • Bad breath
  • Heavy tartar buildup
  • Loose teeth

Deep cleanings and laser periodontal care can prevent the need for invasive surgery and help you save your smile before it’s too late. Our patients enjoy a faster recovery and better results thanks to our unique periodontal care plans. Laser periodontal therapy prevents the need for surgery and makes your care more effective than traditional deep cleanings.
