Working part-time in an endodontic practice all through college made me realize I needed to change from pre-med to pre-dent. When I started dental school at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, I was convinced that endodontics was my calling. Exposure to the periodontal faculty and clinics made me think about specializing in periodontics.
Still on the fence about which specialty to pursue, I did a general practice residency at New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens for one year after dental school graduation. During that year, it became clear that performing periodontal surgery and placing implants was the path for me. I spent the next three years at Ohio State University earning a specialty certificate in periodontics along with a Master's of Science degree. Two years in private periodontal practice in Hamden, Connecticut convinced me that I needed a warmer southern climate. I’ve been a practicing periodontist in the Atlanta area since 2001.
Outside of the office, my husband and I are kept busy raising our daughter. We recently adopted a greyhound, which my daughter named Hobbes. In my spare time, I enjoy going to the gym and taking barre classes, catching up with a good book and trying out new restaurants with my husband and friends.
I am passionate about periodontal therapy because I enjoy doing surgery, replacing teeth with implants, and forming long-term relationships with my patients.
